About Mr Banks
I grew up in a small town near Greenville, SC called Pickens, SC. I started my college journey at the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!) and ended it at Lander University (Go Bearcats!), a small liberal arts college in SC. In between my time at South Carolina and Lander I worked at a honey farm and spent a season as an assistant coach for my high school alma mater’s softball team. While coaching I saw, first-hand, the inequity in our education system and decided to help fix that by becoming a teacher. That eventually brought me to the Duke Master of Arts in Teaching program (Go Blue Devils!). While in graduate school, I taught an entire course of Civics & Economics at a Durham Public Schools comphrehensive high school. Since earning my masters, I have worked as a middle school World History teacher in North Carolina. Now, I am proud to be back at my alma mater teaching high school US Government, Economics & Personal Finance, and US History. I am especially grateful for the opportunity to work with, and learn from, every one of my students.
